    This site currently relies on essential authentication and game cookies plus a small amount of browser storage for preferences and UX continuity. No custom advertising pixels or marketing-cookie libraries are wired into the application code at this time.

    What is active today

    • Essential Clerk cookies required for sign-in, session continuity, and account security.
    • A secure, signed cookie (rps_guest) so you can play rock-paper-scissors as a guest without an account.
    • Browser localStorage used for theme preference, dismissed site-banner state, signed-in visited-post cache, and rock-paper-scissors preferences (solo best streak and sound on/off).
    • Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights for operational measurement and performance monitoring.
    • Stripe's secure checkout, used only if you choose to send an optional tip; Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page.
    • Privacy-enhanced YouTube embeds that use the youtube-nocookie domain until playback is requested.

    Consent position

    The current implementation only depends on essential account and game cookies plus operational browser storage. Because of that, the site does not yet expose a granular cookie-preference center.

    If future releases introduce non-essential cookies or similar technologies that require opt-in consent under applicable law, the site will add a consent flow before those features are enabled.

    Strictly necessary cookies

    Clerk authentication is enabled across the site. That means essential cookies may be set so users can sign in, stay signed in, and complete account-related actions safely. These cookies support session continuity, request integrity, and fraud or abuse prevention. Disabling them may prevent account features from functioning.

    Rock-paper-scissors guest cookie

    The rock-paper-scissors game can be played without an account. To make that possible, the site sets a single secure, signed cookie named rps_guest that identifies your seat so you can keep playing and rejoin a game. It is httpOnly, which means page scripts cannot read it, it is not shared with other websites, and it is not used for advertising. It expires automatically after a few months, and signing out or clearing site data removes it.

    Local storage and similar browser storage

    The application also stores a small number of non-cookie values directly in the browser to preserve user experience between visits.

    • Theme preference so the site can remember whether you last used light, dark, or system mode.
    • Dismissed banner flags so operational notices do not reappear after you close them.
    • Visited-post cache scoped to the signed-in user ID to render read-state faster in the blog UI.
    • Rock-paper-scissors solo best streak and whether game sound is muted, kept only in your browser.

    Analytics and performance monitoring

    Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights are enabled site-wide to help understand traffic patterns, diagnose slow pages, and spot regressions. These services are used for product and reliability measurement rather than advertising. No custom marketing pixels, retargeting tags, or ad-tech SDKs are currently integrated into the app code.

    Embedded third-party content

    Some pages may load YouTube content through the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie domain. Once you choose to play or interact with embedded media, the third-party provider may still process technical data such as IP address, browser information, or device details under its own privacy terms.

    Payments

    If you choose to send an optional tip, you are redirected to Stripe's hosted checkout to complete the payment. Stripe may set its own cookies on that page to process the transaction and prevent fraud, under its own policies. This site does not place payment or advertising cookies of its own.

    How to manage these technologies

    • Use your browser settings to block, clear, or limit cookies for this site.
    • Clear local site data from your browser if you want to remove stored preferences and read-state.
    • Sign out of your Clerk session from the site navigation to end the active account session.
    • Sign out or clear site data to remove the rock-paper-scissors guest cookie and saved game preferences.
    • Avoid loading embedded third-party media if you do not want those providers to process your device or network data.
