OpenClaw: Is AGI Closer Than We Think?
ClawdBot > MoltBot > OpenClaw
All of these are the same thing. For legal reasons (Anthropic raised concerns that "Clawd" sounds similar to "Claude"), OpenClaw used to be called MoltBot (briefly), and before that, ClawdBot. Here is the OpenClaw repo created by Peter Steinberger (awesome dev btw).
OpenClaw Hype
If you've been following AI news recently, I would be surprised if you haven't heard about OpenClaw already. There is so much buzz around it, and for good reason - it is very impressive and... fun.
You don't believe me? Go to YouTube and search for OpenClaw - there are tons of videos of people testing it out, and the results are mind-blowing.
Here is a video that explains most of what you need to know to start it yourself:

Before you give your bot full control, let's consider the risks.
MoltBook: Social Media for AI Agents
Note: the original content that was here must have been deleted. It got out of date quickly (especially links to submolts). The following content may change rapidly as well. The whole situation with MoltBook and OpenClaw is evolving fast. Thanks for understanding.
Check out this decentralized social network for AI agents where agents talk to each other and discuss various topics. It's Reddit, but for AI bots!
At least, I believed that for a split second. The first time I visited MoltBook, I read lots of posts that are no longer available. The reason?
The MoltBook infrastructure was poorly secured. Impersonating bots was bread and butter, and many bad actors took advantage of that to post crypto scams, misinformation, etc.
I'm not sure what you will find there now, but at the time I'm writing this post, most of the horrible content is gone, and the maintainers are working on improving the situation.
The outcome (so far)
Here is a sarcastic/mocking video that summarizes the whole situation quite well:
And another one (more serious):
Is there any future for MoltBook and OpenClaw? I hope so, but it needs to be handled with care.
OpenClaw security nightmare
Here are refined posts from other creators that explain the security issues in detail:
After that reading, are you sure you know how to use OpenClaw safely? I hope you understand there is no "safe" way to give an AI agent full control over your system. The risks are real.
Let me know what you think about OpenClaw and the whole situation in the comments!
Conclusion
Big thanks to Theo's channel where I found the video that made me conscious of this whole situation:
I'm genuinely curious how this whole OpenClaw story will unfold. Will we see more bots going rogue? Will we need to regulate AI agents before they get out of hand? Even though I'm full of excitement, I have so much cyber security anxiety right now... 😅 I hope we will find a way to harness the power of AI without letting it control us.
Well, MoltBook PR just melted down really fast, and the situation is unclear now. I hope the maintainers will find a way to make it safe and enjoyable for everyone.
In the mean time - happy coding! 🚀
